After deciding to give oversight of digital product development to indvidual publishers, Crown Publishing Group announced that Philip Patrick is stepping down from his dual role as v-p of digital and marketing strategy and publisher of Crown digital group. In a memo about Patrick's departure, president and publisher of the Random House division, Maya Mavjee said that "for a division as broad and wide-ranging as Crown, the most effective way to serve our authors is for each of our individual publishers to manage and oversee digital product development in their respective areas of category focus rather than to drive the digital-publishing process through one central publisher."

Patrick, who will leave RH at the end of the month, spent 15 years at the house and worked on campaigns for various authors over that time including Ina Garten, Erik Larson, Jillian Michaels, Barack Obama, Rebecca Skloot, and Martha Stewart.

With the shuffling, Jill Flaxman has been promoted from group sales director at Crown to director of marketing. Flaxman has been at Random House since 1997.
