Houghton Mifflin Harcourt announced two promotions this week. Paul Shannon has been named svp, finance in HMH's trade and reference group. He was most recently v-p of finance. Cheryl Toto has been named svp, business planning and strategy in the trade and reference group. She was most recently svp digital strategy and planning. In her expanded role, Toto will continue to oversee the digital group and will add business operations and business applications to her responsibilities.
