Richard Rhorer has been named v-p and associate publisher at Simon & Schuster's flagship imprint. Since Jonathan Karp came in as publisher, he has shuffled a number of key editors and executives, with Rhorer, who has a background in digital, being the latest addition. Rhorer was most recently director of digital business development at Macmillan.

At Macmillan Rhorer oversaw the house's Web site, and also launched Quick and Dirty Tips, a for-profit site, built around the brand of Macmillan author Mignon Fogarty (an established podcaster known to her fans as Grammar Girl) that featured a number of podcasts by various authors, as well as other content like apps and audiobooks.

Rhorer has held a number of positions throughout his career, working at one point at Penguin promoting Riverhead and Berkley paperbacks and was at Henry Holt as director of marketing before being promoted to his position at Macmillan. S&S said Rhorer brings "broad experience in marketing and sales across an impressive and varied range of publishing." In his new role he will be focused on the backlist program at S&S, as well as "key" frontlist titles.
