Elisa Rivlin has been promoted to executive v-p and general counsel of Simon & Schuster. Rivlin joined the company in 1998 as senior v-p and general counsel and handled S&S’s 1998 uncoupling from its educational, reference, and professional publishing units; the 2002 establishment of S&S Canada; S&S’s 2006 acquisition of Howard Books; and last year, the transition to the agency model for the sale of e-books. Rivlin has also acted as S&S’s lead representative in the Google Book search litigation and settlement.
