Aurum Publishing Group has added a new strand to its children’s publishing with the appointment of Rachel Williams as publisher of a nonfiction, design-led imprint that will sit alongside Frances Lincoln Children’s Books.

Williams was previously commissioning editor for children’s books at Phaidon and more recently publisher at Templar, where she founded the Big Picture Press imprint and published such titles as Maps by Daniel and Ola Mizieilinska and Walk This World by Lotta Nieminen.

APG's new imprint will celebrate contemporary illustration and quality design, and will publish up to 16 titles each year, beginning in 2015.

Williams will report to David Inman, managing director of APG and former managing director of Templar. He said: “Rachel’s new list demonstrates our commitment to children’s publishing. It will be a major contributor to our global growth in illustrated books.” Williams said: “This new list will champion original, value-packed illustrated nonfiction. I’m delighted to be joining David and the team at APG to launch this exciting new venture.”
