The National Book Foundation, presenter of the National Book Awards, has hired Electric Literature editor Benjamin Samuel as its program manager. Samuel, who is also the cofounder of the digital magazine, Recommended Reading, has been at Electric Literature since 2009. His writing has appeared in Publishers Weekly, McSweeney's, and the Los Angeles Review of Books.

“We are very pleased to welcome Ben to our staff,” said the NBF's executive director, Harold Augenbraum. “His combination of expertise in digital media, brand marketing, and program development will help us expand our core mission of enhancing the cultural value of great writing in America.”
