Rick Horgan, formerly v-p, executive editor at Crown, will be joining Scribner as v-p, executive editor, effective August 25. Horgan departed Crown in May, where he had been for nine years, during a reorganization of the imprint and its leadership structure.

In his new position at Scribner, Horgan will acquire and edit nonfiction and commercial fiction, working with Nan Graham, senior v-p, publisher, and editor-in-chief Colin Harrison.

During his long career, Horgan has edited the Pulitzer Prize-winning The Black Count by Tom Reiss, and books by high-profile figures such as Bill Gates and Condoleezza Rice.

Before joining Crown, Horgan held senior positions at Warner Books (now Grand Central) and HarperCollins.
