Julia Cheiffetz has joined Simon & Schuster's Atria Publishing Group as v-p and publisher of a yet-to-be-named imprint, effective immediately, Atria senior v-p and publisher Libby McGuire has announced. The imprint, Atria said, will "draw on Ms. Cheiffetz’s unique strengths as an editor and her passion for publishing books that address issues of social import."

Cheiffetz comes to S&S from HarperCollins, where she has served as executive editor of its Dey Street imprint since 2014. Previously, she oversaw the creation of the Little A imprint at Amazon Publishing, where she was an editorial director from 2011-2014, and also served stints at Harper Studio and the Random House Publishing Group, where she began her publishing career in 2002. Cheiffetz has worked with such authors as Karen Abbott, Katy Tur, Jessica Valenti, Harold Bloom, Billy Collins, Stanley Fish, and Jose Antonio Vargas.

“Julia has demonstrated an ability to identify major new authorial talent, and to take what is happening in the culture and news and translate it into bestselling books that endure,” McGuire said in a statement. “I look forward to Julia bringing her creative publishing vision to Atria.”
