Incoming Macmillan Publishers CEO Jon Yaged continues to put his stamp on the publishing company, naming Ajay Roy the publisher's new chief operating officer. Roy, who has not worked in publishing before, will join Macmillan on December 19, reporting to Yaged.

In announcing Roy's appointment, Macmillan said he has nearly 20 years of experience leading teams with a focus on customer, operational, and technology strategy. Roy's most recent position was as COO of PARTS iD, a digital commerce company operaying in the U.S. automotive aftermarket. Roy is credited with building PARTS iD's B2B business, expanding its direct-to-consumer offerings, and managing its logistics, operations, and partnerships on a global scale.

“Ajay’s deep experience and his passion for working with teams and developing people, along with his inherent curiosity, make him a perfect choice to be our next COO,” said Yaged in a statement. “I am thrilled to have Ajay as a part of our leadership team.”

In May, Yaged was named to succeed Don Weisberg as CEO of Macmillan Publishers US at start of 2022. In September, Yaged assumed day-to-day responsibility for Macmillan US, and announced a number of structural changes.
