Masie Cochran has been named publisher and editorial director of Tin House Books.

Cochran was appointed interim publisher, in addition to her role as editorial director, in October, following the departure of publisher Craig Popelars, who had helmed the Portland, Ore.—based independent publisher since 2019. Popelars joined Minneapolis-based indie press Milkweed Editions as v-p of sales and marketing last month.

Cochran has been with Tin House since 2011, and has held the role of editorial director for the last four years. Prior to joining Tin House, she worked at InkWell Management Literary Agency.

Established in 2005, Tin House publishes two dozen titles per year and offers summer residencies and year-round online writing craft courses through its Tin House Workshop.
