Janet Silver has landed at Nan A. Talese. The former Houghton Mifflin v-p and publisher, who left the house after its reorganization following the acqusition of Harcourt, has joined the Random House imprint as editor at large.

Silver--whom Doubleday Broadway president and publisher Stephen Rubin called "a writer's editor"--has a long history of working with big-name authors. At Houghton her lengthy list of heavies included Philip Roth, Jonathan Safran Foer, Tim O’Brien and Cynthia Ozick. Talese seconded Rubin's enthusiasm about the hire, noting that Silver, with her reputation for editing strong literary fiction, is "a natural match" for her eponymous imprint.
