Late last week, the New York Times reported Vintage Books paid seven figures for the rights to republish E L James's Fifty Shades trilogy, and the three books are accomplishing a feat that only the Hunger Games books have: all three titles are on the Amazon top 100 lists, for both print and Kindle. Fifty Shades of Grey is ranked #3 in print and #4 on the Kindle, Fifty Shades Darker is ranked #24 in print #9 on the Kindle, and Fifty Shades Freed is ranked #29 in print and #13 on the Kindle. The ranking in print for the latter two titles is particularly impressive because they're selling for $29.99.
