On June 26, Zondervan laid off eight staffers, in what the company called a “realignment.” The curriculum division was moved into trade and will be overseen by senior v-p of trade Annette Bourland, who also heads the Zonderkidz children’s imprint. Also as part of the changes, church, academic, and reference resources became a part of the Bible division under senior v-p of Bibles Chip Brown.

According to Zondervan, the eight positions that were eliminated were “primarily support functions.” A spokesperson said the reorganization was not connected to the HarperCollins acquisition of Thomas Nelson, announced July 11.
