Nebraska Book Company, which operates more than 250 college stores, announced that Steve Clemente has been promoted to president and CEO.

“This change strongly positions us for our long-term strategy. We now have a stronger balance sheet, streamlined reporting structure, and a dedicated and talented management team led by Clemente. I am confident this change in leadership will keep the team energized and focused on executing our business plan,” said NBC chairman of the board Peter Reed.

Clemente joined NBC in 2010 as senior v-p of college stores. In May, he was named president and COO. Prior to that he worked for 15 years at Target Corporation, last serving as v-p of store operations.

“As a company, we have seen many changes this year. We have new ownership, a new board, and now a new leader at the helm” said Clemente. “I’m excited about the opportunities we have in front of us and the focus of our team moving forward.”
