In another sign of the shift to open access publishing, Wiley has announced its membership in the Open Access Scholarly Publishers Association (OASPA), a global organization representing the interests of open access journal publishers. Wiley has had open access offerings for authors since 2004, when it launched OnlineOpen, a hybrid open access model for subscription journals, and in 2011 Wiley launched Wiley Open Access, a full open access journal program. Wiley also announced the appointment of its first vice president & director of Open Access in June. “We see our new membership of OASPA as a further step on our journey to develop a wide range of sustainable publishing routes,” said Steve Miron, senior v-p & managing irector, Scientific, Technical, Medical, and Scholarly, Wiley.
