Chris Labonté will leave his position as Douglas & McIntyre’s fiction acquisitions editor at the end of the year to pursue his own writing and other endeavors. Over the five years he’s run the program, Labonté has brought the company such writers as Ian Weir (Daniel O’Thunder), Nicole Lundrigan (Glass Boys), and Matthew Trafford (The Divinity Gene).

"I am grateful to D&M, to Scott McIntyre in particular, for having faith in the vision I brought to our fiction program," Labonté says, "But mostly I am excited to see how that vision will evolve and mature under the stewardship of D&M’s wonderful editors. I expect great things for the program."

Labonté's departure prompted D&M to integrate acquisition and editing of fiction into the editorial department, led by publisher Trena White.
