Cyber Monday is extending to books, with sales at Barnes & Noble, Amazon, Kobo, Apple, and others competing for holiday dollars.
Barnes & Noble offered a $20 B&N gift card with the purchase of a Nook e-reader. The bookseller also had selected physical books like Chris Ware's Building Stories and Neil Young's Waging Heavy Peace for discounted prices.
At the center of many retailers' sales, including B&N's, was 80% off select e-books, many of which were Open Road titles. When contacted by PW, Open Road stated that they "offered the discount to retailers who could technically pull the list" of Open Road's entire catalog of over 2,400 titles. Retailers participating in the Open Road e-book sale include Amazon, Apple, Kobo, and Sony. On Cyber Monday, a landing page for each title with a link to different retailers was activated.
