The Perseus Books Group has made some changes at its academic publishing arm, Westview Press. In a memo to employees, Bill Newlin, group publisher for Perseus’s Avalon division, outlined a “reconfigured” Westview editorial department and an expanded marketing department.

On the editorial side, Avalon acquisitions director Grace Fujimoto will now be responsible for managing the Westview acquisitions program in addition to travel acquisitions, reporting to Newlin. She will manage a staff of acquisitions editors in Berkeley and New York, including senior editor for American politics Ada Fung, and will chair an acquisitions committee that includes Westview publisher Cathleen Tetro and Newlin.

The larger marketing team, based in Boulder, Colo., will be headed by Tetro who will focus on the development of new tools and strategies for online marketing and sales. To grow that effort, Westview has hired Renee Legatt as associate sales and marketing director. Legatt had been at John Wiley, most recently as a senior digital solutions specialist. In addition to managing the marketing team in Boulder, Newlin said Tetro will work with Avalon associate publisher Donna Galassi and marketing technology director Sarah Juckniess on a range of cross-imprint initiatives.

With the changes, Toby Wahl, Leanne Silverman, and Brooke Smith will be leaving the Westview editorial staff.
