A play written by Merle Good, publisher of Good Books, began off-Broadway performances on November 2, with an official opening night set for November 17.

In The Preacher and the Shrink, playing at the Beckett Theatre in Manhattan, a "spirited young woman makes a sexual accusation which checkmates her father, a popular and respected pastor." The play features three-time Tony nominee Dee Hoty under the direction of Steven Yuhasz.

Good and his wife, cookbook author Phyllis Good, operate Good Books in Intercourse, Pa. The house is best known for its Fix-It and Forget-It series of cookbooks, coauthored by Phyllis.
