Macmillan to Offer Audiobooks to Libraries via Hoopla

Macmillan announced last week that it has struck a pilot deal to distribute audio- books to public libraries’ patrons via Midwest Tape’s Hoopla digital platform. Macmillan is the first Big Five publisher to get on the Hoopla platform, but officials at Midwest Tape said talks are underway with others and more announcements are expected soon.

Former Ace Exec Named CEO of Follett

Mary Lee Schneider, the first CEO of Follett Corp. from outside the Follett family, is being replaced by board member Ray Griffith, who had been CEO of Ace Hardware until 2013.

BitLit Adds Macmillan

BitLit, a startup with an app that allows customers to purchase e-book editions of titles they already own, has added Macmillan to its roster of publishing partners. Macmillan, the second of the Big Five houses to add its titles to the service, joins more than 300 other publishers that have signed contracts with the Vancouver–based company.
