The newly elected board of directors of the Book Industry Study Group will convene for its first meeting this today in New York City.

Among those elected to serve on the 2019-2020 BISG board of directors are newly elected BISG chair Andrew Savikas, president of US subsidiary of getAbstract; Dennis Abboud Jr., senior director of sales at ReaderLink; Kempton Mooney, executive director of product development at the NPD Group; Patrica Simoes, director of content operations at Rakuten Kobo; and Kelvin Watson, director of Broward Country Libraries.

BISG executive director Brian O’Leary said the new board will be focused on “the management and growth of BISG,” and creating “a more informed, empowered and efficient book industry.” O’Leary added that, “each business leader [on this board] brings unique experience and insights to the way we think about providing value and service to our colleagues in the book publishing industry."

The BISG board is comprised of 14 members who serve two year terms. The board itself is designed to broadly represent key sectors of the book publishing supply chain. The board’s members represent trade, professional and scholarly publishers as well as wholesalers, retailers, libraries and other book-related service providers.
