A24, the independent film studio that branched into book publishing last year, is launching in-person retail sites at Barnes & Noble locations across the country, the bookseller announced today. A24 Shop will feature a "custom-designed" section with merchandise curated by the film studio, including its books as well as movies, vinyl, and collectibles, per the announcement.
The partnership, which begins this month, also extends to event collaborations with the film studio. The first of these took place November 11 at B&N's flagship Union Square location in Manhattan, where an in-store conversation between Sofia and Roman Coppola, moderated by Vogue editor Keaton Bell, celebrated the launch of Eleanor Coppola's posthumous memoir, Two of Me.
The memoir is one of many titles that has been published by A24 via its collaboration with the U.K. art, photography, and critical studies publisher Mack, which began in May 2024. A24's catalog features screenplays and other film IP crossovers, including a cookbook of famous big-screen dishes and movie novelizations, as well as memoirs such as Eleanor Coppola's. In December 2024, Mack launched a photography imprint curated by Sofia Coppola, who has written and directed several films with A24.
“Storytelling has always been at the heart of Barnes & Noble, and we’re thrilled to partner with A24, the home for storytelling on screen," said Bill Castle, B&N’s director of media. "This partnership gives fans another way to experience the stories, films, and artists they love." In the announcement, the bookseller added that the collaboration marks "the first time B&N has partnered with a brand on this type of activation on a national scale."
A24 Shop is opening first at major B&N storefronts, with more locations to take part in 2026. In addition to the Union Square B&N, initial retail sites include the B&N locations at the Grove in Los Angeles, the Colonial Plaza Market Center in Orlando, and the Mall of America location in Bloomington, Minn.
