Bloomsbury has announced a strategic collaboration with Google Cloud focused on technology innovation, AI-powered learning and core publishing infrastructure.
The partnership aims to combine Bloomsbury's publishing expertise with AI technologies from Google Cloud, including NotebookLM, Vertex AI, and Gemini Enterprise.
Bloomsbury Digital Resources, the publisher's academic division, will leverage AI tools for increased discovery and engagement, with the intention of improving learning outcomes.
At the same time, the upgraded AI infrastructure aims to provide Bloomsbury with data-driven and semantic search insights to analyze trends and drive book sales, as well as offer sales predictions to help managing inventory, per the Bloomsbury announcement.
"Bloomsbury is pleased to be working with Google in this collaboration to demonstrate how cutting-edge technology can increase the discovery and sales of books, as well as transform engagement with content to improve learning outcomes," said Nigel Newton, founder and chief executive of Bloomsbury.
The investment has been factored into Bloomsbury's existing capital expenditure plans, the company said.
Debbie Weinstein, president of Google in Europe, Middle East and Africa, said the agreement is a good demonstration of how Google Cloud can help organizations transform their businesses. "We look forward to helping Bloomsbury revolutionize content discovery, enhance learning, and drive significant business growth through intelligent, scalable solutions," Weinstein said in a statement.
