Word has come down of more job cuts at Simon & Schuster following a round of layoffs earlier this week. Included in that first round of layoffs, which an S&S spokesperson described as “limited” cuts made in response to market conditions, were Eamon Dolan, VP and executive editor at the flagship S&S imprint, along with several lower-ranking employees.
Reports from agents said the cuts hit both the publisher’s adult and children’s publishing programs and have occurred in various imprints. Other high-profile editors let go included Scribner’s editorial director Colin Harrison, and Atria executive editor Nick Ciani.
Among the most prominent layoffs in the children’s division are Laurent Linn, art director; Anna Jarzab, associate publisher of the licensed, novelty, and branded publishing group; and Rebecca Kuss, executive editor at Aladdin.
An S&S spokesperson said they had no further comment on the layoffs, which total about 15.
One agent told PW she was “reeling” from the scope of the layoffs.
