Bookwire, the Frankfurt-based e-book and audiobook distribution company, is partnering with London's ElevenLabs to offer AI-powered audiobook production to Bookwire's clients.
The aim of the partnership, according to the announcement, is to offer conversion for e-books that have no audiobook equivalent. Bookwire already has its own audiobook production service, dubbed WAY (We Audiobook You), which produces around 500 audiobooks each year.
Bookwire has a large international footprint, covering 3,500 publishers, and is responsible for distributing more than 1.5 million e-books and 300,000 audiobooks. Accordingly, the partnership has the potential to significantly expand the catalog available on ElevenLabs' ElevenReader app, which offers content from clients who primarily include self-published authors, as well as smaller publishers.
For its part, ElevenLabs has been enhancing its own suite of audiobook production products, from low-cost with minimal control to full-service, high-touch productions. No information was shared on exactly what services will be available to Bookwire's clients or at what rate or level of service.
