Saint Benedict Press has published its first e-book--the New American Bible Revised Edition (NABRE), available for the Kindle and the Nook. The e-book version of the NABRE is discounted from its original price of $5.95 to $3.95 from now until the end of National Bible Week (Nov. 20-26). With the addition of the NABRE, Saint Benedict becomes the only publisher to sell all three major English translations of the Catholic Bible; it also publishes the Douay Rheims and the Revised Standard Version Catholic Edition. Next year Benedict Bibles will release its first Bible storybooks for children: My First Communion Bible (Mar. 2012) and The New Catholic Illustrated Bible (Aug. 2012).
The Common English Bible “Thank You-Come Again-I Promise” blog tour launched November 20 and will extend through National Bible Week, Thanksgiving, Advent, Christmas, and New Year’s. During the tour, bloggers can write posts keyed to seasonal events using the Common English Bible (Twitter @CommonEngBible) Participating bloggers will receive a copy of the Thinline edition and be provided with suggested themes, topics, and verses; invited to interview Bible scholars; and will be able to post Common English Bible badges on their blogs. David C. Cook’s The Toddler’s Bible by V. Gilbert Beers (Feb. 2012) is getting an update. The new edition refreshes the 1992 original with new illustrations by Claudine Gevry. Additional back matter includes “Toddler’s Bible Teachings” (doctrines) and “Toddler’s Bible Values.” Beers is the author of more than 160 books,125 of them for children. His work has been published in 34 languages.
Zondervan’s NIV Once-a-Day Bible releases next month (Dec.) and is aimed at those who want to read the Bible in a year. Organized into 365 daily readings drawn from the Bible, it also adds a daily Psalm or Proverb and a short devotional thought written by the staff of Walk Thru the Bible. The NIV Once-a-Day Bible--Chronological Edition is being released simultaneously.
