The Qur'an: A New Annotated Translation (Equinox, Aug.) is a Herculean effort by translator A.J. Droge to provide a text for religion students and scholars. Extensively annotated (total page count 558), the text also includes a glossary, timeline, and map. Droge has taught at the University of Chicago and the University of Toronto; U.S. distributor is ISD.

Ignite: The Bible for Teens [NKJV] (Thomas Nelson, July 16) is aimed at readers ages 11-15. A teen Bible advisory committee aided in development, and general editor is Mark Oestreicher, former president of Youth Specialties, an organization for Christian youth workers. "White Hot Topic" and "Flashpoint" material focus on topics and concepts relevant to teens.

New for children from Candle: The Candle Classic Bible (July) includes 365 stories retold for children ages 8-10 and includes traditional art; Candle Bible for Me includes 16 stories retold by Juliet David, illus. by Mark Jones, for ages 3-up (July); Play-Time Bible Stories includes pull-out pieces for ages 3-up that help tell four Bibles stories. For infants, Baby's Tiny Bible and Prayers (Lion, July) is a slipcased set of two volumes.
