David Limbaugh, who is the younger brother of talk radio host Rush Limbaugh, debuted at #2 on PW's Religion Nonfiction Bestsellers list with his latest release, The True Jesus: Uncovering the Divinity of Christ in the Gospels.

The title offers a combined account of the books of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John in an attempt to offer a new perspective on Jesus, according to Regnery Publishing. Publicity for The True Jesus included radio coverage (Eric Metaxas Show), as well as on television (Fox & Friends, the Glenn Beck Program), while a marketing campaign included ad placement on Google, Instagram, and Facebook. Christian personalities Lee Strobel and Sean Hannity also endorsed the book.

Easter shopping boosted sales for the paperback edition of Killing Jesus by Mark Dugard and Tim O’Reilly in April. However, the book slid one spot to #5 in the wake of O’Reilly’s firing from Fox News.

On the heels of the film adaptation of Lee Strobel’s The Case for Christ, the paperback edition of the book came in at #6 in Religion Nonfiction. Publicity for the The Case for Christ was tied to promotions for the film, including a media junket in Los Angeles and New York. Strobel appeared with the cast at the junkets, and also at a red carpet premiere in Chicago. Further, Strobel’s speaking tour included appearances at conferences such as the National Religious Broadcasters (NRB) Convention and at churches around the U.S., where he signed copies of the book.

On the Religion Fiction chart, Beverly Lewis came in at #3 with her new Amish romance, The Ebb Tide. In its starred review, PW called the book a “heartwarming story of self-discovery, friendship, and the search for God’s will.” Marketing and publicity for the standalone title included a book trailer on YouTube, free excerpts available on BeverlyLewis.com, and promotion on Bethany House’s website and socials.
