Brazos Finds ‘The Way Home’

In a world rights deal brokered directly with the author, Robert Hosack acquired The Way Home by pastor A. J. Swoboda (Redeeming How We Talk, Moody, 2018). Slated for publication in fall 2020, the book explores how Christians can question their faith without losing it, and presents a new approach toward spiritual formation, according to the publisher.

B&H Takes Two

Ashley Gorman at B&H took world rights from Steve Laube of his eponymous literary agency to Fight for Love: How Your Marriage and Family Can Win in the Battle Against Porn by Rosie Makinney, an activist and speaker about pornography addiction. Slated for publication in spring 2020, the book depicts how Makinney and her husband Mark drew from the Bible to cope with his compulsive porn use, as well as their work with other couples impacted by porn addiction through their Fight for Love Ministries.

Poet and speaker Jackie Hill Perry, who wrote Gay Girl, Good God (2018), re-upped with B&H’s Jennifer Lyell, v-p of book publishing and merchandising, and Devin Maddox, trade book publisher, for a second yet to be titled adult trade book. It will focus on “God’s promises in Scripture,” according to the publisher, and it’s set for publication in fall 2020. Austin Wilson of Wolgemuth & Associates represented the author in the world rights deal.

IVP Doubles Up with Alan Noble

Alan Noble (Disruptive Witness, IVP, 2018), assistant professor of English at Oklahoma Baptist University and editor-in-chief of the online magazine Christ and Pop Culture, has signed a two-book deal with InterVarsity Press. The first book, tentatively titled I Am Not My Own, will examine clergy sex abuse scandals, the rise of white nationalism, and other society ills. It’s slated for publication in fall 2020. Information about the second book is not yet available. IVP’s Ethan McCarthy took world rights to both books from Don Gates of the Gates Group.

Two More for Zondervan

Zondervan's Stephanie Smith took world rights from Jenni Burke of D.C. Jacobson & Associates to two new books by Alli Worthington. Business coach and the author of previous Zondervan titles such as The Year of Living Happy, Worthington will encourage Christian women to find strength in God and fulfill their true purpose in the first untitled book, which is scheduled for publication in October 2020. Information about the second book is not yet available.
