Publishing veteran Megan Dobson returns to HarperCollins Christian Publishing to lead Zonderkidz as v-p and publisher, reporting to Laura Minchew, senior v-p of the children’s and gift group, the company announced Wednesday. The HCCP children’s division, which includes Zonderkidz and Tommy Nelson, is the largest faith-based children’s book imprint.

“I am thrilled to have Megan join us in the role of Zonderkidz publisher,” Minchew said in a statement. “She has a passion for children’s books and will bring creativity and business acumen to the role. Megan’s experience in leading successful teams in both publishing and sales, and her extensive knowledge of HCCP, make her a perfect fit.”

Dobson said it was “an amazing privilege to join the Zonderkidz team in producing inspirational books that speak messages of hope, truth, and love to children and their families.” She added: "I am excited to lead this team into the future while continuing our mission to inspire the world.”

Dobson leaves behind a seven-month stint with RBmedia as publisher for ChristianAudio to rejoin HCCP, where she held key sales and publishing roles for nine years. Most recently, as associate publisher for the W imprint with Thomas Nelson, she edited works from authors including Lindsay Teague Moreno (Boss Up), Jess Ekstrom (Chasing the Bright Side), and Lisa Whittle (Jesus Over Everything), according a release from Zondervan.

Dobson’s charge at Zonderkidz publisher includes driving operations, leading the financial side, acquiring new titles, and maximizing a rich backlist, including such children’s brands as The Jesus Storybook Bible and The Beginners Bible. She will be based in HCCP’s Grand Rapids, Mich., office, where the Zonderkidz program is predominantly located, according to a company statement.
