Broadleaf Gets ‘Braver’ with Shannon Bonne

Lisa Kloskin at Broadleaf Books has bought world rights to a debut nonfiction book from singer, composer, performer, Shannon Harris Bonne. The book, tentatively titled Braver Things, explores the author’s two-decade-long marriage to evangelical pastor and controversial author Joshua Harris, her subsequent divorce, and rediscovery of her own musical career. It is set to be published in summer 2023. Ingrid Beck at the Bindery Agency represented the author in the deal.

Baker Books Acquires Church Planter’s Book on Activism

Teacher, filmmaker, and entrepreneur Josh Buck's Resistance Culture: Seven Radical Practices of Jesus for Everyday Activism went to Patnacia Goodman at Baker Books, a division of Baker Publishing Group. Buck offers readers Bible-based tools for fighting injustice and fostering unity and peace. Jevon Bolden at Embolden Media Group negotiated world rights for the fall 2022 release.

Brazos Buys Two from Wilbert

Katelyn Beaty, senior acquisitions editor for Brazos Press, has completed a two-book deal with blogger Lore Ferguson Wilbert. The first book, tentatively titled A Curious Life, is scheduled for a summer 2022 release. Wilbert, (Handle with Care: How Jesus Redeems the Power of Touch in Life and Ministry) views curiosity as a hallmark of Christian spirituality. Exclusive world rights were negotiated with John Blasé of the Bindery Agency. Title and topic are not set yet for the second book, planned for 2024.
