Jonathan Cahn takes over the top spot on PW's Religion Nonfiction list with The Return of the Gods (Frontline), which continues his custom of revealing ancient mysteries that allegedly lie behind current events, this time focusing on the United States. The author has made multiple media appearances, including television programs such as CBN’s 700 Club, TBN’s Praise, and Family Talk with Dr. James Dobson.

Cahn is joined by other debuts including Max Lucado’s Help is Here: Finding Fresh Strength and Purpose in the Power of the Holy Spirit, which comes in at #3. The book describes Lucado’s relationship with the Holy Spirit and how “supernatural help” is available to help Christians get through challenging and stressful circumstances, according to the publisher. Lucado, the teaching minister at Oak Hills Church in San Antonio, Tex., is the author of over 30 books with more than 145 million products in print.

Letters to the American Church by Eric Metaxas takes #4 in Religion Nonfiction. The author of Bonhoeffer summons the Christian Church to battle and urges Christians to repent of their silence in the face of “cultural Marxism” and “globalist tyranny,” according to the publisher. Metaxas is promoting the title across his many platforms including website, blog, newsletter, and speaking engagements.

David Limbaugh’s The Resurrected Jesus: The Church in the New Testament also debuts on our list, taking the #5 spot. Limbaugh is a social commentator and the younger brother of the late radio host Rush Limbaugh. The nonfiction list is rounded out by familiar names: Sarah Young, Jennie Allen, Lysa TerKeurst, and Priscilla Shirer.

In Religion Fiction, The Stranger in the Lifeboat by Mitch Albom maintains its months-long #1 perch, while Harvest Moon, the final in the Riverbend Romance series by Denise Hunter, debuts on our list at #10. Marketing and publicity for the book included book club giveaways and promotions on the publisher and author’s social media outlets.

Following the release of his new nonfiction work, Cahn shows up once again on PW’s Religion Fiction list; The Harbinger takes #3 and The Harbinger II: The Return lands at #7.
