Zondervan Academic has promoted Katya Covrett from associate publisher to v-p, publisher of the imprint. In her new role, Covrett will lead the acquisition, editorial development, and overall title strategy for the division.

Covrett's experience includes 20 years in editorial at Zondervan, focusing on academic, ministry, and reference books. She has worked with authors including Tremper Longman III, Scot McKnight, N. T. Wright, Michael F. Bird, and Christopher J. H. Wright.

Stan Gundry, senior v-p, group publisher and Zondervan editor-in-chief, said in a statement that Covrett “brings extensive publishing experience, impressive academic credentials, and a passion for her work." He added, "I look forward to seeing the ways Zondervan Academic develops under her leadership.”

Also in a statement, Covrett described her personal mission as one that aligns with Zondervan Academic's — "to reflect the breadth, both theological and global, of the great Christian tradition and the diversity of the worldwide Body of Christ," and she looks "forward to continued partnership with the scholarly community, with my authors and my colleagues to create excellent books in service of the academy and the church worldwide.”
