HarperCollins Christian Publishing (HCCP) has announced two promotions to its executive leadership team as it readies for the retirement of SVP and group publisher John Kramp in December.

Melinda Bouma has been named VP and associate group publisher for Zondervan's Bibles, Academic, and Reflective imprints, and Philip Nation has been appointed VP and associate group publisher for Thomas Nelson Bibles and Spanish publishing. Both will report to HCCP president and CEO Mark Schoenwald, who called them "proven leaders."

Bouma has worked with Zondervan's extensive Bible program since 2003, moving through positions in marketing and editorial to become VP and publisher in 2019. She now adds the Academic imprint, serving pastors and scholars, and Reflective, which publishes titles on leadership, ministry, and the intersection of faith and culture. "The potential for collaborating and expanding synergies among these publishing areas is vast," Bouma said in a release.

Nation will take on the publishing group that includes Thomas Nelson Bibles, Catholic Bible Press, and the Spanish publishing program, which includes Editorial Vida, Group Nelson, Editorial Católica, and HarperEnfoque. He joined HCCP in 2019 as VP and publisher of Thomas Nelson Bibles, moving from his prior role directing content Lifeway Christian Resources. "I am blessed for this opportunity to expand my work in the great kingdom endeavor of publishing Bibles and Christian books," said Nation, who is also a Southern Baptist pastor.

The promotions follow John Kramp's December announcement of his plans to retire after 10 years leading HCCP's Bibles, Spanish, Academic, and Reflective publishing programs. Kramp will continue to lead HCCP's leadership development through the end of the year on a part-time basis, Schoenwald said.
