Inner Traditions, a U.S. publisher of mind-body-spirit titles for 50 years, has announced a new partnership with Spanish publisher Alfaomega's Grupo Gaia, to make Spanish-language Grupo Gaia titles available in the U.S. and Canadian markets, distributed by Simon & Schuster.
Mahar Sperling, director of Inner Traditions in en Español, said in the announcement that the two independent family-owned publishing companies "recognized the same core values in one another and instantly knew it would be a good fit." Bruno Fuente and Manuel Mardones, directors of Grupo Gaia, called Inner Traditions "the ideal collaborator for growing our catalog."
Inner Traditions publishes 20 Spanish-language books each year, including both original works and translations. Ehud Sperling, founder of Inner Traditions, first launched Inner Traditions en Español in 1993 but shut it down in 2003 after their original distributor retired. Ehud’s bilingual, bicultural son Mahar relaunched it in 2022, touring Europe and Latin America to introduce their Spanish translations, making Spanish-language titles their second biggest market today.
Alfaomega distributes Inner Traditions en Español in Spain and Editorial Océano throughout Latin America. Among the Grupo Gaia bestsellers now available through IT are La liberación del alma (The Untethered Soul), La bruja verde (The Green Witch), Este dolor no es mío (It Didn’t Start with You), Señales (Signs), and Cuando el cuerpo dice NO (When The Body Says No)—are now available from Inner Traditions. The Grupo Gaia catalog is available on Edelweiss.
