Terumi Echols, publisher and president at InterVarsity Press, named two veteran editors to new roles in an announcement Friday. Jon Boyd will become IVP's new divisional VP of editorial and associate publisher on April 1, while Cindy Bunch will leave that position to become senior editor-at-large, effective June 1.

Echols praised Bunch's 37-year career at IVP including 10 years as associate publisher and director/VP of editorial. "Her steady influence has shaped IVP’s editorial culture, accompanied authors with care, and helped steward our publishing work with theological depth and integrity," Echols said in a statement.

In her new position, she will continue to acquire spiritual formation books, lead writing workshops and guide IVP's LifeGuide Bible Studies.

In a statement, Bunch said she looks forward to her new role and is "so pleased that Jon Boyd will carry the torch as the new leader of the editorial department. Jon brings an understanding of who we are and passion for our unique place in the publishing world. This is paired with his optimistic vision for the future."

Boyd joined IVP as digital communications manager in 2012, was named associate academic editorial director in 2016, and has been the publisher's academic editorial director since 2017. In the announcement, Echols pointed to his "rare combination of scholarly depth, publishing expertise, heart for ministry, and long-standing service to InterVarsity.”

Boyd said it will be an "honor and a privilege," to take the lead at a press that, since its founding in 1947, has "joyfully gone about our mission of amplifying the voices of people with important things to say."

Although there are always fresh challenges, Boyd added, "We’ll keep working on the best ways to use print and digital media, human intelligence, and Christian faithfulness to equip believers with the insights and encouragement they need to face what’s next.”
