The American Booksellers Foundation for Free Expression (ABFFE) is seeking donations of original children’s art for an online auction that will be conducted during Banned Books Week (Sept. 30-Oct. 6). The online auction is an effort to build on the success of the Children’s Art Auction that is conducted at BookExpo America every year. The first online auction was held last year and raised more than $5,000 to support ABFFE and its defense of the free speech rights of young readers. ABFFE is a sponsor of Banned Books Week and co-sponsors the Kids’ Right to Read Project with the National Coalition Against Censorship.

Artists and illustrators who may be interested in contributing to the Banned Books Week auction will find more information in “Frequently Asked Questions about the Banned Books Week Online Auction.” A donation form has also been posted online. The deadline for donations is Sept. 12. Questions can be sent to ABFFE president Chris Finan, chris@abffe.org
