On a sweaty but sunny Sunday afternoon in downtown Brooklyn, the Brooklyn Book Festival—now the largest consumer book festival on the East Coast—held its largest fair yet. Liz Koch, a v-p and co-producer of the festival, estimated that the event brought in 45,000 attendees, its most to date.

"The glorious weather conspired with us to help produce perhaps the most successful festival yet in our dozen years of existence," said Johnny Temple, Akashic Books publisher and chair of the Brooklyn Literary Council (which plans the festival). Noting that the show was "packed," Temple told PW the show proved "an embarrassment of diverse literary riches" with a "vibe" that "was just so damn good."
