Gotham Ghostwriters, in partnership with the Association of Ghostwriters, has announced that the national Gathering of the Ghosts ghostwriting conference will return to New York City with a two-day program November 10–11.
The inaugural conference, held in January 2024, was organized as a one-day convention for established ghostwriters to facilitate conversation around industry-wide trends, challenges, and opportunities. The 2025 iteration, organizers said, will have an expanded format, including a broader array of programming for a larger community of writers looking to enter the field of ghostwriting, as well as for experienced ghostwriters.
This year's Gathering of the Ghosts will include specialized breakout sessions and workshops with tracks focused on craft, client management, and marketing strategies, as well as panel discussions and networking sessions with literary agents and editors. The conference will also feature keynotes and discussions about peer-benchmarked pricing, collaborator visibility, and the use and misuse of AI technologies.
“The response to the first Gathering of the Ghosts from our post-event survey was overwhelmingly positive, according to our post-event survey, with one exception: more than 90 percent of attendees told us they left wanting more,” Gotham Ghostwriters CEO Dan Gerstein said in a statement. “In particular, they wanted more granular, practical discussions around top-of-mind topics like how to deal with difficult clients and negotiate higher fees. And especially more opportunities to engage with agents, editors, and other publishing professionals that directly affect our work.”
