Swedish Crime Series Generates Flurry of Sales

Bonnier Rights Sweden sold the debut crime series Doggerland by Maria Adolfsson to Ullstein Buchverlage in Germany, in a three-book deal. Other deals were made with Tammi (Finland), SEM Libri (Italy), People's Press (Denmark), and Argo Publishing (Czech Republic). Swedish publisher Wahlström & Widstrand will publish the first book in the series, called Deception, in April. The book follows police inspector Karen Eiken as she returns to Doggerland, which are fictional islands in the North Sea, after a family tragedy.

YA Graphic Novel Sells in Taiwan

The graphic novel Escape from Syria by Samya Kullab has sold in Taiwan to New Century Publishing Company. The book was originally published by Canada's Firefly Books, which controls world rights, and is about a family that must flee Syria and then seek asylum in Lebanon. Illustrations were created by Jackie Roche. Kullab was formerly a reporter at Daily Star Lebanon.

World English Rights Pre-empted For Polish Thriller

Fog by Kaja Malanowska, a Polish thriller that was published by Znack in 2015, has sold to Australia's Text Publishing for world English rights. Barbara Zitwer brokered the deal. The book follows police detective Ada Rochniewicz, who has a troubled family history, as she investigates the murder of a woman in Warsaw.
