Australian YA Novel Racks Up International Sales
The YA novel, It Sounded Better In My Head by Nina Kenwood, which Text Australia will publish in mid 2019, has sold to publishers in Italy, France and Spain. Text controls all rights to the book, which opens when the heroine's parents announce their separation and her two best friends reveal they're getting together. The book won the Text Prize for Young Adult and Children’s Writing, which gives the winner a publishing contract with Text and a $10,000 advance against royalties.

Spanish Women's Fiction Debut Heats Up
Paulina Hoffmann's Last Gift, by Carmen Romero Dorr, has recently sold in Poland (to Rebis) and in France (to Les Escales). Planeta originally published the novel in January, and SalmaiaLit controls all rights to the title. The book follows the life of the titular character who escaped to Madrid from Berlin during WWII. The book picks up with the story of her granddaughter, Alicia, in the present, who, after Paulina's death, travels to Berlin to learn more about her grandmother's past. The author's grandparents were German and moved to Spain during WWII, giving the author the inspiration for this story.

Dutch Book on Rembrandt Moves to the States
Norton has acquired U.S. rights to The Young Rembrandt:The Leiden Years, by Onno Blom, from De Bezige Bij, The Dutch publisher controls world rights to the book, which is scheduled for publication in the Netherlands in October 2019. The title looks at the origins of Rembrandt's genius by examining his time in early 17th century Leiden. The sale was made on proposal.

Finlandia Prize Winner Sells in Spain
The 2015 Finlandia Prize winner, Oneiron by Laura Lindstedt, has now sold to Armaenia Editorial for world Spanish rights. The book is about several women who meet in the afterlife after their deaths, and is now being published in 14 territories (Teos being the original Finnish publisher). Elina Ahlback Literary controls all rights to the title.
