Kids’ Comic Con 2008
The second annual Kids' Comic Con will be held on March 29 at the Bronx Community College. KCC is a kid friendly comic event that prohibits material featuring gore, extreme violence, nudity or vulgarity. The event will feature comics professionals, workshops for young artists and educators, exhibits, and panels. Comics writer and KCC founder Alex Simmons and Gene Adams are the co-producers of the show. KCC opens at 10 a.m and closes at 6 p.m; children under 17 get in free, and the admission cost for those 18 and older is $5. More information about KCC can be found at the event's website.

BEA Graphic Novel Day
Saturday, May 31 has been designated Graphic Novel Day at this year’s BookExpo America convention, which is being held at the Los Angeles Convention Center May 29-June 1. To kick-off the events of Graphic Novel Day, Diamond Book Distribution is sponsoring a breakfast featuring Pulitzer Prize winning cartoonist Art Speigelman, Heroes producer and star comics writer Jeph Loeb, Hellboy creator Mike Mignola and Bone Creator Jeff Smith, acting as moderator. The breakfast will be the leadoff event for a day featuring 10 conference panels examining every aspect of the category. For more information see BEA show blog.

Amulet Movie
Variety has an article on their website about Warner's movie adaptation of Kazu Kibuishi's Amulet. The movie will star the siblings Willow and Jaden Smith.

Dave Stevens Obit
The Comics Reporter has an obituary for Dave Stevens, who died at 52 after a long struggle with leukemia. Stevens was an early independent comic artist and illustrator in the 80's, and created the adventure series The Rocketeer.

Mark Siegel on ICv2
ICv2 has a 2 part interview with Mark Siegel, the editorial director of First Second, Holt/Roaring Brook’s graphic novel imprint, on their website. The first part of the interview focuses on First Second’s 2007 successes and the spring 2008 releases; the second part of the interview covers the fall 2008 and spring 2009 releases.

HarveyAwards Ballots
The nomination ballots for the 2008 Harvey Awards are now available. The ballots are due by March 21. The winners will be announced at a ceremony on September 27at the Baltimore Comic-Con. More information can be found at the Harvey Award's website.

Ralph Bakshi Exhibit
Ralph Bakshi, director of the animations Fritz the Cat, Heavy Traffic, and Cool World, will have a solo art show of his paintings up in the Animazing Gallery in SoHo. Also, Bakshi's fine art work has been collected in a book, Unfiltered: The Complete Ralph Bakshi, which is published by Universe, an imprint of Rizzoli International Publications. Bakshi will be at the opening of the show and will be signing books. The opening reception will be held on April 17 from 6 to 9 PM; RSVPs are required. The exhibit will be open until May. Readingat KGB Bar
A comic reading will be held at KGB Bar in New York City on Sunday March 23. Jason Little, Julia Wertz, Liz Baillie, Sam Henderson, and Top Hart will be guests at the event. The event will run from 7 to 9PM. More information can be found at the KGB website.
