Writers’ Trust Awards $219,000 to Canada’s Writers

The Writers’ Trust of Canada held its literary awards on November 2 in Toronto, presenting seven literary awards and $219,000 to Canadian writers. Awards were presented both for individual works and career achievements and rewarded accomplishments in the fields of fiction, nonfiction, short fiction, poetry, and literature for young readers. Winners include Deborah Campbell, who was awarded the $60,000 Hilary Weston Writers’ Trust Prize for Nonfiction for A Disappearance in Damascus: A Story of Friendship and Survival in the Shadow of War, and Yasuko Thanh, who received the $25,000 Rogers Writers’ Trust Fiction Prize for her debut novel, Mysterious Fragrance of the Yellow MountainsClick here for more information.
