United States Artists has named Claudia Rankine a 2016 Zell Fellow, a fellowship that comes with a $50,000 purse of unrestricted grant money.. Since 2006, the philanthropic organization has distributed millions in unrestricted grants to artists, writers, musicians, and dancers at all stages in their career. Past recipients include Teju Cole, Annie Proulx, and Kara Walker.
