Blackwell’s Partners with Kortext For Digital Learning

British academic bookseller Blackwell’s has reached an agreement with e-textbook provider Kortext to acquire Blackwell’s e-Learning platform and takeover the management of the bookseller’s digital learning business.

Blackwell’s CEO David Prescott said the deal was driven by growth in the use of digital learning platforms in U.K. higher education and the need for a partner that specialized in developing digital learning solutions.

Prescott said that the best way to deliver both print and digital learning products to students is “by partnering with Kortext rather than continuing to invest in a separate platform.”

Blackwell’s has 32 academic and specialty bookstores in Oxford, Cambridge, London and Edinburgh, in addition to 23 academic and campus bookstores

Kortext CEO James Gray said, “Through this partnership Blackwell’s can now deliver the evermore innovative content solutions their customers expect from them, regardless of format.”
