Rare Bird, Book Passage Host Indie Bookstore Display Contest

Rare Bird Books and Book Passage have launched "Through the Bookstore Window," a display contest for “books about bookstores” that is open to any independent bookstore in the U.S. The cash award for winning displays will be paid to the bookseller designated by each of the winning stores.

The contest organizers will supply a list of possible books that might be include. The only requirement is that the store include in the display at least one copy of Through the Bookstore Window by Bill Petrocelli, which gave its name to the contest.

The contest period will run from Saturday, June 23, to Saturday, June 30. The winner will be chosen by July 31 based on photos and other information submitted. Participating stores will be asked to keep their display in place for that one week and to provide a copy of a photo of the display to Julia Callahan at julia@rarebirdlit.com.

First prize will be $500. Second prize is $200, third prize is $100. All prize amounts will be paid to the store representative, not the bookstore. Stores wishing to participate in the contest should notify Rare Bird by Friday, June 15. Notifications and questions should be sent to Julia Callahan at julia@rarebirdlit.com
