San Francisco Bookstores Get City Grants

The city of San Francisco has given $103,000 in grants to 11 bookstores in an effort support store "revitalizations," sustain jobs and for community development. The grants were created by the late San Francisco mayor Ed Lee, and administered  in partnership with the nonprofit Working Solutions and the Small Business Development Center. The stores receiving grants include five in the Mission district, including Dog Eared Books Valencia, Bolerium Books, Mission: Comics & Art, Adobe Books & Art Cooperative, and Alley Cat Books. Others receiving grants are Green Apple Books, Just a Touch Christian Bookstore, Stevens Books, EastWind Books, Dog Eared Book Castro, Comix Experiences, Stevens Books, Alley Cat Books and Gallery and Adobe Books and Arts Cooperative.
