ABA's Indies First Program to Give Away 20,000 Books

November 24 marks the sixth Indies First program on Small Business Saturday, held by the American Booksellers Association yearly since 2013. This year, the nearly 500 participating independent bookstores will collectively give away 20,000 special-edition copies of the novel Ghost by this year's spokesperson, Jason Reynolds, with the help of Reynolds's publisher, Simon & Schuster Children's Publishing.

Through the “Indie Bookstores Give Back on Small Business Saturday” campaign (#IndiesGiveBack), which Reynolds launched on November 15 at the Miami Book Fair, participating bookstores will receive a free box of special “Indies First/Small Business Saturday” paperback editions of Ghost to distribute to children in an underserved community on or around Small Business Saturday.
