Joe Illidge Out as Executive Editor at Valiant

In a surprise development, Joe Illidge, named executive editor at the comics publisher Valiant Entertainment earlier this year, has left the company.

Illidge joined Valiant in April as executive editor, succeeding former Valiant editor-in-chief Warren Simmons. Illidge confirmed his departure from Valiant in an email to PW.

PW spoke with Illidge in June about his plans for Valiant Entertainment comics publishing in an interview on More to Come, the PW comics podcast.

Illidge is a former editor at DC Comics, where he edited Batman comics. In addition, he worked at Milestones Media, the pioneering African American owned line of superhero comics published in partnership with DC. More recently, beginning in 2016, Illidge worked as a senior editor at Lion Forge, overseeing the development of the Catalyst Prime multicultural superhero universe before leaving Lion Forge to join Valiant earlier this year.
