MoCCA Arts Fest 2019 Opens April 6-7 in Manhattan

This year’s MoCCA Arts Festival, an annual show of indie and self-published comics and graphic novels organized by the Society of Illustrators, will feature such noted artists as Gabrielle Bell, Liana Finck, Keith Knight, Mark Alan Stamaty and Lauren Weinstein.

The Museum of Comic and Cartoon arts festival, aka MoCCA Arts Festival 2019, will be held April 6-7 at the Metropolitan West event space at 639 W. 46th Street in Manhattan with programming and panels held around the corner at the Ink48 Hotel at 653 11th Avenue.

Guests of Honor at this year’s MoCCA festival include cartoonists Edie Fake, Finck, Knight, and Bill Sienkiewicz. Programming at this year’s show has been organized by comics critic and Best American Comics series editor Bill Kartalopoulos. Presentations include spotlight sessions with the guests of honor, including an onstage conversation between Liana Finck and Gabrielle Bell as well as a talk between Bill Sienkiewicz and Klaus Janson.

International guest artists include comics artists Aisha Franz, Michel Kichka and Florent Ruppert. Artists James Sturm, Sarah Glidden and Mike Dawson will discuss political content in their comics; and Emily Flake, Sacha Mardou and Lauren Weinstein will focus on comics and motherhood.

Other artists slated to participate at MoCCA include Marisa Acocella, Ivan Brunetti , Liza Donnelly , Mort Gerberg , Julian Glander, Tom Hart, Abby Jame , Keren Katz, and others. In addition the School for Visual Arts wll hold a series of panels on professional development.

Price of admission is $10 per day. Tickets will be available for purchase at the door. Children under twelve are free.
